Chromebox & Google Revisited

Samsung as well as Google have introduced the next generation of hardware meant to operate Chrome OS. Google's Chrome os is basically an OS developed around an internet browser, and it's built to boot swiftly, let you get on the web in just a few seconds, and run web apps while saving minor information to local storage. Read underneath if you favor Chromebook or Chromebox?

There aren't numerous surprises in today's announcement. We saw early editions of Samsung's brand new Chromebook and ChromeBox at CES in January, and the ultimate product details and prices were unintentionally leaked out by suppliers a week ago. Actually, at least one Samsung Chromebox was accidentally sold and examined prior to the release date.

In any case, things are all public now, and here's what we learn. The brand new Chromebook is named the Samsung Series 5 Chromebook 550 and the new Chrome OS desktop is called the Samsung Series 3 Chromebox.

There's two types of the Chromebook: one with 3G and WiFi, and another with WiFi only. Both Chromebooks and also the Chromebox feature 4GB of RAM and 16GB solid state disks for storage. They all feature Intel HD 3000 graphics.

The Chromebook laptops have 12.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel displays, 1.3 GHz Intel Celeron 867 dual core cpus, support for 1080p HD video playback upon an outer display via DisplayPort output, 2 USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet jacks, as well as a flash card reader. In addition they feature 1MP front-facing digital cameras and 802.11n WiFi.

The Chromebox might be a smaller since there's no built-in display. The tiny desktop computer weighs just 2.45 pounds. In addition, it includes a more powerful 1.9 GHz Intel Celeron B840 dual core processor chip, 6 USB 2.0 ports, 2 DisplayPorts with support for 2560 x1600 pixel displays 802.11n WiFi, and Ethernet.

Samsung features a keyboard with the Chromebox and offers a Bluetooth keyboard option. This product even offers DVI output.

When Samsung released its first Chromebook in 2011, Acer also released its own Chromebook at the same time. This current year Samsung is the only company so far introducing brand new Chrome OS products powered by faster Intel Celeron chip.

Even though it's perhaps not a fantastic sign that Google once had two Chrome Operating System partners and today generally seems to have only one, Samsung's latest Chromebook and Google's newest model of the Chrome operating system are getting to begin with positive reviews.

Chrome OS starts faster, downloads updates instantly, and provides the "security" of saving all of your important files within the cloud - when you consider that a feature. Nevertheless it still sort of sounds like you spend more and get less when you buy a Chrome OS device instead of a Windows laptop. Chromebox is in partnership with Google.

Im hoping to get my hands on a demo unit shortly, so maybe Ill switch my mind after spending time using a 2nd generation Chromebook.
